This pack contains one energy saving 12 volt downlight bulb. These bulbs use a special infra-red coating (IRC) that helps produce the same amount of light using approximately 30% less energy than a standard halogen downlight.
This means you can replace your current 35 watt halogen downlight with this 20 watt bulb and enjoy the same light output.
This bulb features:
- a small two pin style connector (GU5.3).
- a soft, comfortable, warm light.
- an average 5,000 hour life expectancy.
Buying tips:
There are two types of downlight bulbs that look similar but are very different.
This bulb is a 12 volt downlight and has two small pin connectors. These lights use a transformer in your roof to convert the mains 240 volt electricity to 12 volt. These transformers also use energy.
The other type of downlight bulb is the GU10 mains downlight bulb. It has a larger connector (looks like two large nail heads) and does not require a transformer as they operate on 240 volt mains power.
These halogen IRC bulbs are a good entry level power saving measure
for your 12 volt downlights, however for bigger savings, consider changing
your downlights to 240 volt and using compact fluorescent downlights (CFL).
CFL downlights last up 15,000 hours (reducing waste), and you could save over 70% on your energy costs compared to your
standard downlights. For more info see the related products at the
